Join our Graduating BA (Hons) Acting students as they present SWEET CHARITY.
Inspired by Federico Fellini’s Nights of Cabiria, Sweet Charity explores the turbulent love life of Charity Hope Valentine, a hopelessly romantic but comically unfortunate dance hall hostess in New York City. With a tuneful, groovy, mid-1960s score by Cy Coleman, sparkling lyrics by Dorothy Fields, and a hilarious book by Neil Simon, Sweet Charity captures all the energy, humour, and heartbreak of Life in the Big City for an unfortunate but irrepressible optimist. We proudly present a unique and bold production, based on the original 1966 Broadway version of Sweet Charity – which was directed and choreographed by the inimitable Bob Fosse. Musical numbers include: “Big Spender,” “If My Friends Could See Me Now,” “I’m a Brass Band” and “Baby, Dream Your Dream.”

‘The Sweet Science of Bruising’ is Joy Wilkinson’s ode to women everywhere. In highlighting the vulnerabilities of women in the 19th century, this production reminds us just how far we’ve come – and how much further we really have to go – in allowing the strength of women to truly shine through.
Based on historical research into 19th-century women’s boxing, ‘The Sweet Science of Bruising’ is a fascinating play, featuring an ensemble cast, this is an epic tale of passion, politics and pugilism, presented by our School of Acting graduating class.
